Dancehall artist Masicka has announced the upcoming release of his second studio album, Generation of Kings (G.O.K.), scheduled for Friday, December 1. This marks his first full-length project since joining Def Jam Recordings.
In a recent Instagram post, the Update deejay unveiled the album’s cover art and previewed a new song, building excitement among fans. The cover features a striking image of a gold crown suspended in darkness, visually representing the album’s title, with reaching hands adding a dramatic flair.
While the tracklist for G.O.K. is yet to be disclosed, it is expected to include the single “Tyrant” released in May 2023, along with recent tracks “Limelight” on November 10 and “Bed a Rock!” on November 17.
Masicka’s debut album, 438, independently released in December 2021, achieved notable success, ranking as the third best-selling Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall album in 2022. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, accumulating 30 million on-demand streams and 35,000 units in the U.S. by the end of 2022.
During an Amazon Music Black Music Month discussion in June, Masicka expressed confidence that G.O.K. would surpass the quality of 438, stating, “It far betta dan 438. Suh, dis a sumn weh di fans dem can look out fah.”
To coincide with his 30th birthday on December 4, Masicka plans to celebrate the album’s launch and his birthday with a performance at Club Amazura in Queens, NY, on December 2. The event promises an unforgettable night with a dynamic live performance showcasing his chart-topping hits and electrifying stage presence.
