Conscious Yawd Music leans away from any polished, crossover polish here and keeps Sifi Riddim firmly in rough-cut dancehall territory, with a compact 11-track set and two takes of Dwayn O’s “Link Up” setting the tone right away. The cut has that stiff, driving bounce that leaves room for patter and attitude, and the vocalists play into it from different angles: Binghi Hytz on “That Not Wise, ” Nigel Stephens on “Bad Like Yawz, ” and Ras Zion on “Ruff It Up” all lean into the darker side of the rhythm, while King Lorde’s “Whine Up Yuh Body” loosens things up a bit.
