Fire Ball Records turned Shanty Town Riddim into a modern nod to one of reggae’s most durable foundation tunes, with Leroy “Suga Roy” Moore steering the project through his own label. The release arrived in 2015 as a digital riddim set, and it sits in the part of Fire Ball’s catalogue where classic reggae references are reworked with fresh voices and a clean, contemporary studio finish.

The title track reaches back to Desmond Dekker’s “007 (Shanty Town), ” but this version is voiced by Suga Roy, The Fire Ball Crew, Zareb and Conrad Crystal with Busy Signal added to the mix. Busy’s presence gives the cut extra voltage, while the mix version stretches the idea further for selectors. Around that anchor are Beenie Man on “Boss Gal, ” Dasia on “Cheating, ” and Shakka Rocka on “Rasta Man, ” each taking the same rhythm in a different direction.

The sound is rooted in reggae rather than hard dancehall: steady bass, a warm one-drop pulse, and a singjay-friendly swing that leaves room for melody and phrasing. It feels polished and radio-ready, but still carries enough roots weight to keep the tribute to Dekker intact.

Dasia’s cut brought a real lift to the set; she had already spent years as a backing singer before stepping forward with this song, and “Cheating” gave her a clearer profile in Jamaica. Beenie Man’s contribution adds name value and veteran authority, while Busy Signal’s feature on the title track gives the riddim its biggest crossover spark.
