Sexy Girls Riddim (2005) – Fammly Records

“Sexy Girls” leans into the late-2000s dancehall obsession with girls, flirting and sharp-tongued boasting, but this Fammly Records cut from 2005 keeps the energy pointed and uncluttered. Anthony B’s “Feeling, ” Beenie Man’s cheeky “Kiss Yuh Ass, ” and Chino’s “Tuff Chat” give it that tuneful, party-ready edge, while Capleton comes through twice and shifts the mood between the steamy “Sexy Girl” and the cooler-headed “Sober. ” The lineup has enough bite too, with Lexxus on “Who She A Ramp Wid” and the Lexxus/Surgeon General combination “War Wid We” adding a rougher street flavor beside Gringo, Impac and Tyrical. What lingers longest is Capleton’s “Sexy Girl, ” the cut that locks the riddim’s theme into place and leaves the strongest stamp on the set.
