Sexting Riddim – DJ Perf Records

Sexting Riddim came out in 2019 from DJ Perf Records, with Jonny Blaze, Stadic and DJ Perf behind the production. It lands in that late-2010s dancehall lane where the riddim is polished enough for crossover ears but still built for the dance and the selector’s box.

The cut has a brisk, springy feel at around 100 BPM, with a tight drum pattern, crisp synth accents and enough open space for the vocals to ride the pocket. It feels bright and mischievous rather than heavy, which suits the title and the subject matter. The whole thing plays like a summer-ready juggling, with the production giving each artist room to color the same groove in a different way.

Christopher Martin’s “Wha Dis” brings the smooth, melodic touch he’s known for, while Konshens gives “Good Boy” a sharper, more commanding edge. Kes adds a Caribbean-pop lift on “Hold Back, ” and Patrice Roberts slides in with “Kiss and Tell, ” bringing her Trinidad-rooted sweetness to the rhythm. The biggest crossover moment is Mýa and Ding Dong on “Handsfree, ” a pairing that pushes the riddim beyond the usual dancehall circle without losing its bounce. Beenie Man and Stig Da Artist on “Girls Dem Suga” add veteran swagger, and Stonebwoy’s “What A Place” gives the project a strong final lift. Hey Choppi’s “Say Less” sits well in the middle of the set, keeping the mood playful and current.
