Produced by Bunny Striker Lee and dated to 1973, Serious Thing Riddim gathers four cuts from the roots era, moving between Horace Andy’s Serious Thing, Jah Woosh’s Marcus Garvey Words, The Aggrovators’ Words Dub, and the instrumental A Serious Version. The set leans on Lee’s stripped-back production style, with King Tubby credited on the dub side and the whole release sitting firmly in the early-’70s reggae-to-dub transition. Horace Andy’s cut is the key vocal piece here, while the dub versions keep the arrangement lean and heavy, giving the riddim a direct, minimal feel.
