Built around the 1981 King Jammy production for an unknown label, Satan Army Band pairs Black Uhuru’s Satan Army Band with the dub cut Firehouse Special, keeping the focus tight on a roots-to-dub link that sits right at the edge of the group’s early sound. The release draws from the same Black Uhuru material later associated with Love Crisis and the Black Sounds of Freedom reissue, and it captures Michael Rose-era Black Uhuru in a heavier, horn-driven mix that Jammy also revisited at King Tubby’s. With just two cuts, the pairing is simple but telling, especially the title track and its dub version, which make the rhythm’s shape and atmosphere easy to hear.
