Sando Riddim – Precision Productions

In 2013, when Trinidad soca was leaning hard into Carnival-ready hooks and fast, chest-rattling percussion, Precision Productions lined up Sando Riddim with a sharp six-song cast that keeps the focus on the big moments. The project surfaced in November 2013 as a 6-track, 22-minute release, and it also marked one of Akeem “Preedy” Chance’s early turns as an artist, coming through on “Wining Champion. ” Machel Montano’s “Drop It Down” gives the set its obvious headline pull, while Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy, and Isaac Blackman each bring a different shade of melody and attitude. The sequencing feels deliberate: it opens with Isaac Blackman’s “Soca (Soul of Calypso), ” moves through the newer voices, then finishes with Montano, like Precision wanted the riddim to build toward the biggest Carnival punch.
