Rookie Riddim – Rookie Production

Rookie Riddim came out in 1998 on Rookie Production as a tight four-track dancehall set, pairing Alley Cat’s Skunk, Don Yute’s Anything, Pyceral’s Wagga Wagga, and Spragga Benz’s Green Beret on the same cut. It’s a compact, artist-forward release rather than a sprawling compilation, and Spragga Benz gives it one of the most memorable turns in the lineup. Rookie Production would go on to stay active through the late 1990s dancehall run, and this one sits neatly among the label’s harder-edged riddim work from that period.
