Freemind Music’s Rollercoaster Riddim arrived in early 2016 with a neat little five-song line-up and a feel that sits somewhere between smooth roots pressure and uptempo dancehall chatter. Etana’s “All Weekend Man” is the one that instantly anchors it, her voice giving the riddim some lift against Khago’s sharper “Tek Yuh Back Numba” and Christopher Ellis’ “Glory, ” while Ataru and Shuga keep the energy moving on “Energy” and “Payback. ” The set was first put out in January 2016 and later appeared as a nine-track Apple Music release, with a version cut tucked in for the sound-system heads, a small detail that tells you Freemind knew this one would travel beyond the vocal tracks.
