2014 was a busy year for straight dancehall riddims that kept the focus on DJs and raw street energy, and Gerry Digital’s Road Riddim sits right in that run with seven voiced cuts and no wasted space. The set leans on a hard, forward-driving bounce that gives Deablo’s “Spain Town” and Shokryme’s “K Thirteen” room to cut through, while Jayds turns in the sly “Don’T Be Shy” and Size 10 linking with Jayds on “Nuh Fear” adds another layer to the lineup. Patience closes things with “Hard, ” and the whole project keeps its weight in the rhythm section rather than any flash, which is very much the point.
