Rising Son Riddim – Wheelidon Productions

Out of Jamaica’s digital dancehall churn in 2021, Wheelidon Productions came with Rising Son Riddim, a sharp little showcase built on a lean, driving pulse and enough room for different voices to cut through. Bushy Melody opens it with the title cut, while Chedda’s “Gunman Diary” and Devanox’s “No Good” lean into rough-edged street talk; further down, DJ Demo’s “Work and Pray” and Khemical x Indigo’s “Dem Nuh Real” tilt the project toward hard-nosed uplift and survival talk. There’s a nice spread of tones here, from the reflective push of Cloodnine’s “Keep On Going” to the more declarative “Star Life” and “If Dis Nay. ” Wheelidon later returned to similar riddim work, but Rising Son already had that compact, crew-focused energy that was defining a lot of early-2020s dancehall production.
