Ringaz Riddim – Stonerisland Records

Back in 2016, when reggae and dancehall were still leaning hard into lean, digital juggling rhythms, Stonerisland Records cut Ringaz Riddim with a stripped-down three-track setup that keeps the focus on the songs rather than the packaging. Fyah Smoke’s The Only Way is the pick of the two vocal cuts, riding a tough, smoky groove with enough space for the chant to sit up front, while Jay-Son Tha Repper’s Dem Get Jealous pushes the same riddim in a more direct deejay style. The production itself stays close to the bone, with Stonerisland Records handling the instrumental as the final track and leaving the bassline and bounce to do the heavy lifting.
