Reserved Riddim – Sam Diggy Music

Reserved Riddim finds Sam Diggy Music in that mid-2010s roots-reggae pocket where the voices matter as much as the rhythm itself, with Lukie D’s “My Superwoman” leading a tidy eight-track cast that also includes General Knas, Jhamelia, Thrillout and Malibu. Released in 2015, the set carries a conscious, uplift-heavy tone — “Life Over Death, ” “Israel Unite The Voices, ” “To A Better Tomorrow” — but it isn’t all sermon and no sweetness, with tracks like Italo Skarcha’s “You Make I Feel Brand New” and Sanjay’s “A Lil Bit Of Myself” keeping the mood warm and melodic. Sam Diggy also folds in an instrumental cut with Jessie Saunders and Chinna Smith, which gives the riddim a proper dubwise anchor and hints at the producer’s ear for detail. It sits neatly beside the later Sam Diggy catalogue, but this one has a more laid-back, reflective pull.
