Repatriation Overview

Today, roots reggae and dancehall selectors often feature artists who carry a strong cultural message. Some of these artists include Young Kulcha, White Mice, King Kong, Midnight Riders, and Puppa Nadem. Each artist brings their own unique style to the music. Young Kulcha delivers uplifting energy on “Come Pick Me Up.” White Mice is known for his classic “One Blood,” a song recognized by reggae fans worldwide. King Kong’s “Repatriation” stands out as one of his well-known cultural tracks; King Kong has been active since the 1980s and has worked with many respected producers in reggae. Midnight Riders contribute with “One Drop,” continuing their tradition of roots music. Puppa Nadem adds to the mix with “Reggae Business.” These songs come together on the Repatriation Riddim. This riddim was produced by Irie Ites, a French label and production team established in 1999.
