Red Paint Riddim came out as a straight-up early-2012 dancehall set from Signature Records, carrying that rough-edged party energy and a name that fits the mood of the cuts on it. Dovey Magnum’s “Kitty Tight” gets the attention early, while Ranco doubles down with both “Gyal Dem Want Flexx” and the rawer “Gyal Dem Want Sex, ” giving the rhythm a cheeky, uptown-liming edge; Pamputtae and Izah Bing’s “Celebrate Life” and Roundhead’s “Marathon Run” add a veteran pull to the line-up. The release landed on February 14, 2012 as a Signature Records/VP Records digital issue, and the full package runs 15 tracks deep, ending with a straight riddim version tucked in at the close.
