Seven tracks deep, the Red Bull Riddim pulls together a pretty sharp early-2012 soca line-up, with Bunji Garlin, Destra Garcia, Patrice Roberts and Swappi, Tian Winter, and Orlando Octave all taking a turn over Precision Productions’ energetic cut. Bunji’s “Bam Bam” comes in hard and chant-heavy, while Destra’s “Attitude” feels like the kind of carnival-ready hook that can take over fast once it catches on. Tian Winter’s “Pressure Waist” also fits the mood well, a waistline tune with the sort of movement that had soca speakers working overtime that season. Precision put the set out in January 2012, and the smaller 7-track run keeps it focused rather than overstuffed, which suits a riddim made for the road.
