Rebellion Riddim (2002) – White Robbins

Capleton’s “Rob It” gives Rebellion Riddim its hard edge, with that raw, chant-heavy energy sitting right where early-2000s dancehall liked it: stripped down, militant, and ready for sound system pressure. White Robbins keeps the rhythm lean and insistent, leaving room for Anthony B’s “Licky Licky, ” Frisco Kid’s “Boom Boom, ” Junior Reid’s title cut and Sizzla’s “Rebellion” to land with their own personalities. The best tracks tap into that period’s anti-corruption, anti-confusion mood, while the version and the couple of lesser-known cuts help fill out the picture.
