Westpoint Enterainment’s 2009 Rebelious Riddim sits in that late-2000s era when one rhythm could pull together a neatly varied set of voices, and this one does it with a clean six-track lineup led by Natural Black, Turbulence, Lutan Fyah and Perfect. The title track energy is right there in the names too: “Africa Mi A Reach” has Natural Black sounding rooted and purposeful, while Turbulence’s “Infatuated” and Lutan Fyah’s “Call On Me” lean into the sweeter, more reflective side of the project. Kris Kelly, Empress and Perfect keep the sequence moving without the set ever feeling crowded, which leaves the production room to breathe.
