REAL ROCK RIDDIM produced by EMMANUEL MUSIC 1978
Real Rock Overview
The “Real Rock Riddim” is one of the most famous reggae rhythms, first played by the band Sound Dimension in the late 1960s. It has become a classic base for many reggae songs over the years. Today, a new compilation brings this riddim back with some of reggae’s best voices. Dennis Brown, often called the “Crown Prince of Reggae,” sings “Stop The Fussing And Fighting.” Brown is known for hits like “Money In My Pocket” and helped shape roots reggae in the 1970s. Joe Tex & U Black come together for “Friday Evening.” U Black is well known in the dancehall scene for his deejay style, while Joe Tex brings his own energy to the track. Junior Mervin gives us “Cool Out Son.” Mervin is famous for his song “Police and Thieves,” which became a reggae anthem and was even covered by The Clash. Welton Irie’s “Nice Up The Dance” is another highlight. Welton Irie is known for his lively performances and has been a big name in Jamaican dancehall since the late 1970s. EMMANUEL MUSIC, the producer, is respected for keeping roots reggae alive and has worked with many well-known Jamaican artists. This new compilation spreads reggae’s message again, showing the power and beauty of the Real Rock riddim for a new generation.
