Rambo Salute was produced by Chesse Roots for Heavyweight and Route One in 1986, a tight three-track digital dancehall set that links Ackie’s Call Me Rambo, Chesse Roots’ title cut, and Dennis ‘D’ Selector’s Stop it Stop It. The release comes out of the UK Heavyweight sound system circle in north London, which gives the riddim that raw mid-’80s sound and a definite sound-clash edge. Ackie’s Rambo tune is the best-known cut here, and the whole record keeps the military-style theme running through the arrangement with sharp, stripped-back energy.
