Rain Riddim – Younger Generation Productions

Rain Riddim is a lean little 2012 dancehall set from Younger Generation Productions, and it feels a bit different from the bigger, busier riddims that label would later push out. At just five cuts, it keeps the focus tight: Blade Merital’s “Rain Outside” has the strongest hook of the bunch, while SLR’s “Mi A Live My Life” rides the instrumental with a straightforward, street-level confidence. Reggae Ras and Balance bring the more reflective side, especially on “Listen to the Voice” and “Pray for Them, ” which give the riddim some breathing room between the tougher vocals. The beat sits in that mid-tempo pocket, more rhythmic pull than wild energy, and the whole thing was issued on July 26, 2012, right in the middle of a crowded summer of dancehall releases.
