Qwadrill Riddim – Fox Productions

By 2014, Fox Productions was leaning hard into Creole-flavoured soca with Qwadrill Riddim, a 10-track set cut with Bamble Bee Recordz and Studio Audio and voiced by a full spread of names from Blackboy and Bossla to Freezy, Tecker and Zoomboy. The titles alone tell you where the project is rooted — “Wimen Pou Kweyol La, ” “Parlez Creole, ” “Suh Tay Kweyol, ” “Kweyol La Wivé” — and the music keeps that same local focus, pushing chant-heavy vocals over a bright, percussive groove made for Carnival road energy. Crocadile and Dj Cleus’ “Parlez Creole” and Freezy’s “Sho” sit right in the centre of it, while the production keeps the accents sharp and the arrangement lean. It’s a brisk, language-driven soca riddim with a clipped bass pulse and a fast, marching drum pattern underneath.
