    Out of the early-2000s dancehall wave coming out of Pure Music Productions, Push Come To Shove Riddim Pt. 2 sits in that smoother, mid-tempo pocket where the bass stays firm but the groove leaves room for melody and hooks. Anthony B fires the militant opener “Babylon We Bun, ” while Luciano’s “What We Gonna Do” brings the conscience, first on his own and then in a heavyweight pairing with Buju Banton. Lukie D and Mega Banton keep the energy warm on “Return, ” and Sizzla, Mikey General, Delly Ranks and the Tonto Metro/Devonte cut all add different shades to the same rhythm. Vybz Kartel and Maria’s “So Excited” gives the set a sharper, more playful edge, which fits the way this riddim captures dancehall in 2002: conscious one moment, party-ready the next.
