Prize Riddim – S91 Records

On the 2015 dancehall circuit, S91 Records kept this one lean and local-minded: four cuts, four voices, no wasted space. Prize Riddim moves through Deablo’s “Life Struggles, ” Khago’s “Ghetto Youths, ” Stein’s “Greatest Gift, ” and Noah Powa’s “Bedroom Fantasy, ” with Khago and Noah Powa doing the heaviest lifting on the lineup. The setup is more like a compact voice showcase than a sprawling juggling, which suits the release’s straight-ahead dancehall feel. S91’s production leaves room for the artists to carry the mood, and the track ordering keeps the energy from sagging. Prize Riddim was issued in 2015 and lists four unique artists across the set.
