PRESS PLAY RIDDIM produced by GMTI & IRONTRAXX 2014
Press Play Overview
The fete rhythm that lit up 2014 started in the studio with a simple idea: create a sound that would move people at parties and in the streets. Music arranger GMTI wanted a groove that was both modern and rooted in soca’s tradition. Working closely with IRONTRAXX, the team focused on tight drums and catchy melodies. GMTI had already built a name for himself in Caribbean music, producing several popular riddims before this project. IRONTRAXX was known for his sharp ear and bold basslines, helping to shape the final sound. Once the beat was ready, the artists stepped in. Baba Shanta brought his song "Wet" to the riddim, adding his signature energy. Baba Shanta is well known in the soca world, especially for his stage presence and previous hits in Trinidad’s Carnival scene. Big Drew followed with "Everytime," giving the rhythm a playful, upbeat touch. Cdonia’s "Hot Like" added a smooth, confident vibe. Cdonia had already made waves with her earlier tracks, earning radio play across the islands. Post Man joined with "Wining Star," a song that quickly became a favorite at parties. Saga Dee’s "If You Ready" rounded out the project, bringing a strong, commanding voice to the mix. Each artist added their own style, making the rhythm feel complete. Fans remember this fete rhythm as the heartbeat of 2014. It was made for dancing, for celebration, and for unforgettable nights. The collaboration between GMTI, IRONTRAXX, and the artists helped create a true soca classic.
