A taut, gun-check dancehall swing runs through Playfield Riddim, with enough bounce for the girls' songs to rub up against the tougher chant-down cuts. Young Veterans Productions lines up Blacker’s “Nuh Wah No Gun” and Mega Banton’s “Wah Dem A Prove” beside Lady G’s “Hands Up Deh, ” and that mix gives the set its tension: rude-boy pressure one minute, swaggering party energy the next. Macka Diamond’s “Wine Up” feels like the obvious centrepiece, especially with both edit and raw takes sitting back to back, while Harry Toddler’s “Celli” keeps the pulse sharp. It’s a 2008 cut, and that little instrumental “Playfield Version” tucked in there adds a neat pause before the voices come back in.
