PLAYBACK RIDDIM produced by FRANKIE MUSIC 2015
Playback Overview
In 2015, soca fans across the Caribbean and beyond were lifted by a special rhythm: the Playback Riddim. This riddim arrived at a time when soca parties, or fetes, were full of energy and excitement. The man behind this project was FRANKIE MUSIC, a respected Jamaican producer and label owner. FRANKIE MUSIC is known for working with both reggae and dancehall artists, and his productions have gained millions of streams online. The Playback Riddim brought together some of the biggest and most talented names. Beenie Man, often called the “King of Dancehall,” added his signature style with the track Party Vibe Nice. Beenie Man is famous for hits like Who Am I and has won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album. Demarco, another well-known Jamaican artist, joined with B-Day Day. Demarco is known for songs such as Fallen Soldiers and has produced for international acts. Konshens, who has seen chart success with songs like Gal a Bubble, delivered Hustle Everyday on this riddim. Raytid contributed with You A Mi Baby, while Rr brought energy with Turn It Up. Versatile’s Holiday Start, Version’s Holiday, and Voicemail’s Party Up all added different flavors to the compilation. FRANKIE MUSIC also included his own Payback Riddim Instrumental, and Rhougue rounded out the set with Life Okay. For many island fans, 2015 is remembered for the joy and unity that this fete rhythm brought. The Playback Riddim stands out as a true celebration of soca’s spirit.
