Pink Eye Riddim – Kwashawna

Kwashawna Records put Pink Eye Riddim into the dancehall stream in 2015, and the finished set feels like a modern juggling built for the clubs and the street at the same time. The rhythm has that sharp, digital edge common to the mid-2010s bashment sound, with enough bounce for party records and enough space for talking tunes and bedroom tension. The release landed through Kwashawna Records and 21st Hapilos Digital, which placed it squarely in the contemporary Jamaican digital-dancehall market.

The cast is a strong one: Demarco, Likkle Dainjah, Macka Diamond, Masicka, Mr. Vegas, Shana Bliss and Shawn Storm on the duet, Shawn Storm solo, Sikka Rymes, and Vershon. Demarco’s Drunken Love gives the riddim one of its most immediate hooks, while Mr. Vegas brings the kind of melodic, playful energy he has long been known for. Macka Diamond adds her usual directness, and Masicka’s Loyal Soldier points to the harder, more focused style that was helping define his rise in that period.

Shawn Storm is central to the project, appearing both on Why Moan and alongside Shana Bliss on You And Me, which gives the riddim a sweeter, more flirtatious side. Vershon’s Can’t Stop Loving You adds a smooth lovers’ angle, while Sikka Rymes’ Dollaz keeps the money talk flowing. Pink Eye Riddim works because it balances the big voices with a rhythm that stays lean, punchy, and easy to ride.
