Open Land Riddim – MV Music

MV Music and Kisko Hype Music lean into a throwback dancehall feel on Open Land Riddim, a seven-song set that Mr. Vegas says was cut to echo the hard-edged 1990s sound of Steely and Clevie, Dave Kelly and that whole era. The voice cast keeps it tight: Konshens turns up with “God’s Favorite” in both clean and raw versions, while Mr. Vegas handles “Another Blessing” and “Global Gallis, ” giving the riddim its most familiar tug. Nigy Boy links with Vegas and Kisko Hype on “Body Language, ” and Mali Alii’s “Summer High” adds a lighter, sunnier turn in the middle of the sequence. But the track that really fixes the mood is Mr. Vegas’ “Another Blessing, ” where his veteran timing and the riddim’s spare, kicking pulse meet exactly where this project wants to live.
