Open Doors Riddim is the first major calling card from Jason Bromfield’s Orlando-based Open Doors Records, a rootsy 2021 project that wears its studio-first, sound-system sensibility on its sleeve. Bromfield came up as an engineer in Kingston’s 1990s reggae circuit before relocating to Florida, and that background shows in the way the riddim is voiced: warm, live-feeling, and built for singers who can carry a message without crowding the beat. The production has that old-school weight, with a steady pulse that leaves room for conscious lyrics, melody, and the kind of phrasing veterans know how to work.

The strongest cuts come from artists who already know how to live inside a reggae foundation. Anthony B’s Born To Be Love and Luciano’s Whatever You Want bring the spiritual and love-centered side of the project into sharp focus, while Everton Blender’s Going Down and Jahmali’s Place Where From tap deep roots authority. Delly Ranx adds a meditative touch with Higher Meditation, and Jah Niceness’s Yesterday gives the riddim one of its most reflective moments. There is also useful variety in the lineup, with names like Norrisman, Milton Blake, Breakfree, Izeezi, Shanpelle featuring Turbulence, and Tony Blair helping broaden the project’s reach.

Jahson’s instrumental keeps the riddim in view as a production piece, not just a song collection.
