ONE RIDDIM VOL.2 – SIXTY DEGREES RIDDIM produced by PHANTOM-X 2010
One Overview
The 2010 carnival project brought a fresh soca riddim to the season’s music. Compared to other carnival releases from that era, this riddim stood out for its energy and catchy grooves. While many 2010 soca tracks used heavy brass and fast tempos, this project kept the beat warm and danceable, making it easy for crowds to join in. The tracklist featured some strong artists. 14Ro delivered “Soca Fever,” a tune that got plenty of attention on local radio. Benz'N’s “So Right” offered a smooth vocal style, showing why Benz'N is known for blending melodies with upbeat rhythms. Bidji & Mighty Kalimba teamed up on “Papa La Gran,” bringing a unique flavor to the compilation. Mighty Kalimba is respected in the soca scene for his work with live bands, adding depth to the track. Funny’s “So Tight” and Kellingston’s “Carribean Style” gave the riddim even more variety. The carnival director played an important part by choosing artists who could bring out the best in the riddim. PHANTOM-X, the producer, is known for his work in the Caribbean music industry and has produced several popular soca and dancehall tracks. His experience made the project sound tight and ready for the road. This 2010 release fit right into soca sets, giving fans something new to dance to during the carnival season.
