One Day Riddim (2009) – Seanizzle Records

Seanizzle’s One Day Riddim came out of the 2009 dancehall wave that kept the party cuts moving fast while still leaving room for sharp talk and sly one-liners. Sean Reid, known as Seanizzle, had already been making his name as a producer and recording artiste, and the Seanizzle Records imprint gave him a lane for juggling projects that sat comfortably beside mainstream Jamaican dancehall while keeping a local, street-level edge.

The rhythm has that bright, springy feel that made it travel quickly through soundsystems and radio alike: upbeat, hooky, and easy to pull up, but not thin or throwaway. Beenie Man’s Im Ok gives the riddim one of its most recognizable moments, all easy confidence and crowd control. Future Fambo and Beenie Man link for Drinking Rum, which pushes the bashment energy further. Khago’s Nah Sell Out adds a harder, more cautionary tone, while ZJ Liquid’s Wifey Walk Out brings the relationship angle into the mix with a cheekier twist. Seanizzle also voices One Day, and the instrumental closes the circle by showing how the riddim itself carries the tune without needing much decoration.

What makes the release work is the balance between veteran pull and newer voice. Beenie Man gives it instant weight, but Khago and ZJ Liquid help define the personality of the set, keeping it rooted in the era’s mix of party bravado, social warning, and everyday talk. Seanizzle used the riddim to underline his place as both producer and artiste, and the project still reads like a clean snapshot of late-2000s Jamaican dancehall craft.
