Oil Pan Riddim 2009
Oil Pan Overview
The Oil Pan Riddim was released by MillBeatz Entertainment, a label known for its work in soca and Caribbean music. This 2009 riddim quickly became a highlight during that year’s festival season, with its strong, dance-ready soca beat. The music arrangement was handled by Keston “MillBeatz” Patrick, a respected arranger in the soca scene. Bunji Garlin, a major figure in soca with hits like “Differentology,” brought his energetic style to the riddim with “Not Me.” Fay Ann Lyons, who has won multiple International Soca Monarch titles, delivered her powerful voice on “Judgement Day.” Another version of “Judgement Day” came from 3 Canal And Brother Resistance, adding their unique touch and spoken word style. Nadia Batson teamed up with the legendary Black Stalin for “Trouble.” Black Stalin, famous for his calypso classics and five-time Calypso Monarch wins, also performed a solo version called “Trouble — Trouble.” Both tracks brought a deep, classic Caribbean sound to the riddim. Mista Vybe contributed “The Oil Pan Song,” rounding out the release with his own flair. Each artist used the Oil Pan Riddim’s pulsing base to create songs that stood out at Carnival and became favorites for festival crowds. Even years later, the Oil Pan Riddim is still played during Carnival flashbacks, showing its lasting appeal. The combination of MillBeatz Entertainment’s production and the artists’ performances made this release a memorable part of soca music history.
