Oil Spill Riddim has that lean, carnival-night drive: four vocal cuts, one instrumental, and a tight little tracklist that keeps the energy moving without overloading the ears. 4th Dimension Productions lines up Luni Spark, Electrify and Lil Kerry on “Know Your Place, ” then lets Keido’s “Powder Mas” and ShadyLane and Caspa G’s “Whole Thing” keep the pressure on, with Phase361’s “Blame De Rum” adding the kind of rum-soaked cheek that fits the season. There’s a nice link between the producer’s bare-bones instrumental and the voices riding it, especially on “Know Your Place, ” where the hook sits neatly over the riddim’s push and snap. Released in 2019, it’s a compact soca set that feels made for a quick blast on the road, right down to the instrumental tacked on at the end.
