Nowadays Riddim – Jahvinile Productions

A slick little 2012 cut, Nowadays Riddim carries that hard-edged dancehall pulse with a bright, almost playful swing underneath the shelling. Jahvinile Productions keeps the focus tight across a compact lineup, with Ezekiah Rose’s “Greens, ” J Nyle’s “Unreal, ” and the One-and-One pairing of Unique Kid and Trekar on “Eyeball” each working different angles over the same framework. Andy Frass leans into the heat with “Caliente, ” but the title track is the one that locks in the release’s identity, carrying the producer’s name and the riddim’s own attitude in one go.
