Conscious reggae fans have an anthem to bump to with the new single from Samory I featuring Capleton and Kabaka Pyramid. Titled Wrath, tracks like these come time and time again and have the artists go hard on the conscious tip of that old-school reggae. Wrath depicts the rage and anger of Jamaican youth against the corruption, poverty, and violence that reign on the island of Jamaica.
Right up Capleton’s alley, The Fireman rolls back the years and delivers his signature sound with Kabaka Pyramid showcasing why he is the premier reggae artist after his Grammy win. Samory I’s sleek vocals sanitize the track making the whole track not as hardcore but relaying the conscious message all the same. The track was released by Easy Star Records and Overstand Entertainment.
Samory I is a strong advocate of the Government’s plight in curbing violence in Jamaica. Having grown up in the inner city of St Andrew, Samory I is a survivor of some of Jamaica’s violence and appeals to the youth to stop.
“Not many survive or live from the experience I had to be able to do something positive, and I’m hoping the people are listening to the message in the music,” Samory I said.
With the way things are in the world, the message is more than welcome. It doesn’t just relate to Jamaica as corruption and violence if rife everywhere. Let us keep fighting the system and strive for justice everywhere.
