Mini Skirt Riddim – Coppershot Productions

Mini Skirt Riddim finds Coppershot Productions in that mid-2000s dancehall pocket where the rhythm does the talking: lean, sharp, and built for uptempo dance floor juggling rather than big melodrama. The lineup keeps it moving with Cutty’s “Badmind, ” Matterhorn’s pair of cuts, and Vybz Kartel’s “Duggu Duggu” in both edit and raw form, but the real pull is the way the voices sit over a riddim that’s all bounce and quick-footed pressure. Patexx and Zebra add more heat at the tail end, with Zebra’s “Rass” getting the same edit/raw treatment, which tells you this project was aimed squarely at selectors and sound systems. The instrumental version closes it out cleanly, leaving the riddim’s bare groove to carry the whole thing.
