Four vocal cuts and an instrumental make Middle East Riddim feel more like a tight dancehall drop than a big compilation, which suits HEVS RECORDS just fine. Bareface’s “From Birth” comes in raw and direct, while Zi Don Brooks’ “Eva Look Hot” keeps the energy up with a cheeky, fast-talking edge that fits the title’s heat. Eva Deva’s “Weh Yuh Want” and Shu Shu’s “Ever Calm” round out the vocal side with different moods, one more confrontational, the other a little cooler on the delivery.
