Meltdown Riddim (2002) – Springvale Music

Springvale Music’s Meltdown Riddim is a tough little 2002 dancehall cut, the kind of raw, bashy driver that leaves plenty of room for each singer to swagger over the same stingy groove. Beekie’s “Bigger Galis” comes in with straight-up street talk, while Cecile’s “Bring It To Me” adds a smoother, more commanding edge that sits nicely against the rougher voices around it. Danny English and Galaxy P keep the energy bouncing on “Different Gal” and “Mix Up, ” and Hawkeye’s “Nuh Punk” brings the cocky pressure you want from a riddim like this. Springvale lined up a compact set here rather than flooding the tracklist, and that makes the version side easy to hear on its own terms. It lands right in that early-2000s dancehall moment when lean, percussive riddims were doing serious damage in the dance.
