In 1974, Harry Mudie’s HAM label issued the Margaret Riddim, a small but tightly focused set anchored by Dennis Walks’ Margaret and backed by Mudie’s All Stars on Dept Charge and Margaret (Strings Version). The project sits squarely in Mudie’s early-’70s run, when his productions were shaping some of the era’s most durable Jamaican reggae cuts, and this one keeps its appeal in the song-led original alongside the string-heavy variation. With only three tracks, it plays more like a compact single-riddim showcase than a sprawling compilation, and the extra instrumental version gives the release a cleaner studio-room feel.
