Magic Riddim – Mr G Music

2015 was a busy year for soca-adjacent dancehall crossovers, and Magic Riddim fits that moment with a lean, party-minded groove that leaves room for big names to cut through without crowding the rhythm. Mr G Music lines up Vershon, Demarco with J Capri, Bugle, Beenie Man, Blakkman and Chico across 12 cuts, with the strongest ears drawn to Vershon’s “Magic” and Demarco and J Capri’s “Good Things, ” both pushed in radio and explicit versions. The vibe is bright but not sugary, all sharp percussion, easy bounce and enough bass to keep it club-ready rather than pure carnival fluff. Beenie Man turns up twice, including “My Gyal” and “Man Down” with Senior K, and the set closes on G Music’s instrumental, which leaves the riddim’s bare frame exposed and makes the whole project feel like a proper selector’s tool.
