Six voices ride the Mad Parade Riddim, and that tighter lineup gives the 2016 Dubblab-Inc cut a sharp, no-frills feel rather than the overcrowded splash you get on some dancehall projects. Obediah’s “Growing In Love” and Kandice Kash’s “Must Be A Place” bring a smoother, more melodic edge, while Las Mohican’s “Rasta Live To Fight Another Day” and Tevaldez’s “Gyal You Ever Hot” keep the energy pointed at the street; Jareesha and Kasha Blak land the more confrontational side with “Ghett Out” and “You Too Lie. ” The production sits in that reggae-dancehall pocket with a lean, driving pulse that leaves space for each singer’s tone to come through.
