Mad Organ Overview

In 2011, selectors brought the Mad Organ Riddim yard session tape into their sets, giving dancehall fans something fresh to enjoy. This tape featured a mix of established and rising artists, each bringing their own style to the riddim. Da Grynch opened the session with “Mad Organ Version,” setting a strong tone. Maxi Priest & Tippa Irie teamed up for “Like This Like That.” Maxi Priest is known worldwide for his 1990 hit “Close to You,” which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and made him a global reggae star. Tippa Irie, a veteran from the UK dancehall scene, has been active since the 1980s and is respected for his fast chat style. Million Stylez delivered “Milli Swagga,” adding his Swedish dancehall flavor. Mr Williamz came in with “Touch Down,” showcasing his lyrical skills. Red Fox, who made waves in the 1990s with tracks like “Pose Off,” brought energy with “Wine Pon Yuh Man.” The session also included Shabba Ranks with “No Disrespect.” Shabba is a Grammy-winning dancehall legend known for hits like “Mr. Loverman.” Behind the mixing board was NECESSARY MAYHEM, the UK-based label and production house led by Curtis Lynch. Known for blending classic reggae sounds with modern energy, NECESSARY MAYHEM has worked with many top artists and is respected for keeping dancehall relevant worldwide. This 2011 yard session tape captured the spirit of dancehall and made a strong impact in bashment parties that year.
