Coming out of the 2015 soca season, Mad Head Riddim catches that carnival-side energy in a tight little set from Razorbumps Productions, with just five cuts and no wasted space. Boogie B’s “Excitement” gives the riddim its first push, but it’s Lavaman’s “Pm Of Mass” that feels like the sharpest match for the production’s springy, crowd-moving pulse, while Mr Walkie and K keep the title-theme heat going with “Mad Head” and “Place Shell Down. ” The whole thing has that quick, rolling groove built for road vibes rather than polish-for-polish’s-sake, which suits the lineup nicely. A small, easy-to-miss project, really, though that’s part of its charm.
