Low Key Riddim – Optimus Productions

Low Key Riddim keeps its name honest: a relaxed, mid-tempo soca groove with just enough swing to let the vocal cuts breathe. Benjai’s “Lowkey” is the obvious anchor, but “Trini Ting” from Raedyance and “Don’t Stop” by Roger George give the set a bit more lift, while the instrumental keeps the arrangement plain and uncluttered. It sits neatly alongside the tighter, lower-key side of Optimus Productions’ catalogue, which tends to favour clean drum patterns and hooks that don’t need a lot of noise to land. Compared with some of the label’s bigger festival-minded work, this one feels more contained and radio-ready, a compact eight-track run that stays focused on the groove rather than trying to overcook it.
