Bunny Lee’s 1968 Lonely Street riddim, also tied to Treasure Isle, Jackpot, Jaguar and Peckings, comes out of that late-60s rocksteady-to-reggae period with Duke Reid’s Treasure Isle sound at its core. The cut is best known through The Conquerors’ Lonely Street, with later takes from Bitty McLean and The Supersonics, Tyrone Taylor, U Brown and The Mexicano keeping the pattern alive across different eras. Rooted in the same Duke Reid-built foundation as I’ll Be Lonely, it carries that lean, melodious old-school feel that made these riddims so reusable for years.
