Local Drum Riddim – Jammin Entertainment

Local Drum has that sharp, percussive Soca snap that immediately points you toward the bandstand: quick tempo, plenty of waistline pressure, and a heavy drum-led pulse that keeps the energy moving. Jammin’ Entertainment lines up a neat spread of Trinidad voices here, with DRC, Freezy, Jumo Primo, Krazy K Di Baddest, and Subance all working the groove from different angles, while “Bad In Bumbum” and “Dumpa Truck” lean hardest into the cheeky, Carnival-ready side of the riddim. There’s a nice little run of call-and-response titles too — “We Nah Watch Face, ” “Push Back Your Belt, ” “Position” — that tells you exactly what sort of dancefloor this is aiming for. Released in 2018, Local Drum fits right into that period when Soca was pushing bigger, rowdier party records built for the season and gone by Lent.
