LIFE CYCLE RIDDIM produced by XTERMINATOR 2001
Life Cycle Overview
In the early 2000s, reggae was enjoying a new wave of roots and conscious music. The Life Cycle Riddim, released in 2001, fit perfectly into this time. The riddim’s smooth, rocksteady-inspired flow and deep basslines brought listeners back to the classic sound, while still feeling fresh. The producer behind this project was XTERMINATOR, a label known for its influence on modern roots reggae. XTERMINATOR was founded by Philip "Fatis" Burrell, who played a key role in shaping the careers of many reggae stars, including Sizzla and Luciano. The label’s productions are famous for their high quality and spiritual focus. This riddim brought together some of the best conscious voices of the era. Life Cycle opened the set with Version, setting a meditative mood. Lms, a group known for mixing roots with modern sounds, delivered Zion Gates, a song about hope and spiritual strength. Prince Malachi & Turbulence joined forces on We Pray Jah, blending their unique vocal styles. Prince Malachi also contributed the song Life Cycle, adding depth with his soulful delivery. Sizzla, who had already made his mark with albums like “Black Woman & Child,” brought powerful energy to The World. Turbulence, known for his hit “Notorious,” added My Way To Zion, while Tiwony’s Zion and Typical F?f?’s Abu Jamal completed the set. Together, these tracks captured the conscious spirit of 2001 and made the Life Cycle Riddim a roots favorite among fans.
