Lemonade Riddim – Young Blood Records

Elephant Man is the obvious draw on Lemonade Riddim, and he comes in with “Do As You Like” sounding right at home on Young Blood Records’ lean 2005 dancehall cut. The whole thing is brief, just three tracks, so there’s no wasted motion: Elephant Man’s forward-driving style sits neatly against Mr. G’s “Mine Your Own Business, ” which keeps the same sharp, streetwise energy but with a slightly more chatty edge. Young Blood’s own version track closes it out and shows how spare the juggling is, with enough bounce in the drums and bass to keep the tunes moving without clutter. It’s a small release, really, but that’s part of the appeal.
